In the last two years, I’ve changed tremendously. I didn’t realize how much until I started writing.

  1. How I shop for food is completely different. I buy free range, organic meats and veggies whenever possible, and eat no to very little histamines, no gluten, and very rarely have processed foods. My idea of a good date is the Whole Foods salad bar, and at least I’m married to a man that agrees with me! I feel better, my body is better, and my heart thanks me. I cut out processed sugars 95% of the time, and have a healthier home.
  2. I used to buy any and every cleaner on the market, assuming it was ok to use. Wrong. I watched the documentary, “The Human Experiment” about how much toxic chemicals are affecting our health, and more so, the health of our kids! It’s crazy sad how much companies can get away with, putting things in our homes that are literally killing us. So yes, I buy different makeup and household products, and I make a lot of them myself now. And when you learn the truth about things, it’s hard to forget it. I I filled up 3 trash bags of cleaners, makeup, and soaps, and threw it out faster than rotten eggs. I thought, well how hard can it be to make my own cleaners? Let me tell you, NOT HARD. One word, Pinterest. There really is nothing to lose with how much money you save anyway, and how good they smell! They are non-toxic, and your kids can help you clean the furniture now!? Yes. I made four 16oz bottles of cleaner for $1.04. Come on now. That’s just common sense! Free livin for dayz. And, I needed to fine more money for number 3. I’ll blog about it in the next couple of weeks for some of you that would love to know how I do it!
  3. I take tons more supplements and vitamins. I always made fun of old people I knew that took a basket of vitamins every day, and well, now I’m one of them. And I feel better, so I don’t care. I think I spend more on my monthly vitamins now than our whole family’s clothing budget combined..for 3 months. Why would I do that? Don’t I sound crazy? Because genuinely, I’m serious guys, I went from feeling like 5 to feeling like a 9. So yeah, it’s worth it, for me and my health.
  4. I used to relax by blogging, reading, cooking, and running. I’m sad about not blogging as much, and am vowing to get back into it. But not all is lost, I write a lot actually, just on different projects that are hopefully going to be published one day. I replaced regular reading with Audible, and listen to most of my books instead, so I guess I “listen” a lot. 🙂 It’s more efficient, and life these days is about making the most of my minutes, cause that’s all that it seems like I have. I love to run, but have been enjoying bootcamp for a few years now instead, and LOVE IT. I never thought I would say that. I’m genuinely sad if I ever miss a 5am wake up call. Working out is relaxing. I practice the piano, chop veggies, clean the house, talk to people I love more often, play with Truett, love redoing my house with little projects, do anything to make Jonathan laugh, and everything else I fit in is just a bonus, usually a trip to the Farmer’s Market or a nap in the hammock.
  5. My morning habits have done a 180. I get up early to read the Bible, and it makes all the difference. I used to do this at night, and the time of day is really just that, a night and day difference. We need God in the morning, so we can remember who is there to help us through it. That was a big change for me, but a transforming one.
  6. How I think about myself has been a complete mind shift. I’m a beautiful, capable person, made in the image of God, and he loves me so much I can’t even fathom it. I have a beautiful figure, a beautiful family, and I’m a good mom. Even though there may be things I might change here are there, because we all have them, how dare I complain about the beauty that he’s specifically given to me. For that reason, I have learned to love myself for me, and I choose each day to see myself more and more how God sees me, and I am genuinely filled with joy.
  7. My favorite food truck is always the Vegan one. Well, it’s good! Real food tastes good to me. Oh lands, I tried a Braum’s sausage patty the other day that Truett had, and almost threw up from how SALTY it was. That is not real food!
  8. I love messes. I am still a chronic cleaner of sticky, crumbly messes, but I love cars left out, balls all over the place, and puzzle pieces under the pile of clean laundry. I love it all. I will not miss the joy of the mess. To miss it, would be to miss the joy of my son’s childhood, and that would be such a shame.
  9. I don’t like TV. I don’t see much that is beneficial to watch and 99% of the time, I’d rather turn it off and just hang out with PEOPLE. I find myself watching Fixer Upper most of any show out there (gotta love that Jo and Chip) , and I’ll love some fall football coming up soon. Other than that, I really just don’t, well, care? Oh my, it’s just true.
  10. I don’t like smart phones. I used to love my fancy iPhone. Sometimes it’s helpful and I do love being able to share pictures and text my family. Really though, it sucks my time away, steals it flat out from under me before I can look up, demands my attention, and takes the focus off the people I love most. It makes days off only partially off, because of access to email and people calling leaving messages, and tracks my every move. It kinda makes me want to move to the country and throw it in the lake and just live with that good old land line. (Gasp!)

Whew, who knew right? I sound like I’m 60. I know. Just some honest thoughts on a really wonderful Saturday afternoon!
