My son Truett had his 3rd birthday about a month ago. I’ve been sobbing ever since. No really, it’s such a fun age to watch them grow and filled with wonder about every little thing. It’s also a time of testing and more testing the limits. Hey, you have a good balance of both and they turn out alright I think.

This morning I asked Truett if I could take him to breakfast, just him and me. This is the conversation we had:

Me: Do you want to go eat breakfast with me at a restaurant this morning? Can I take you on a date, just you and me?

Truett: Yes!  Can we go to a bakery right now?

Me: Sure! What do you want to eat at the bakery? What does the bakery have that you like to eat?

Truett: They have oatmeal and all kinds of good things!

Me: Right. All kinds of good things. 🙂

Fast forward 20 minutes. We went to Panera together and he ordered Strawberry Oatmeal, I got an egg and turkey sandwich, and we sat at talked. I decided to use this time, while Truett was more than happy stuffing his face, to answer some questions…
