Every year, I pray about one word that will challenge me to be a better me, a word that I feel God wants to help me sharpen, to make me better in a certain area, and then I cling on for dear life, because the last two years I’ve done this, it has been a wild ride! This year, and still today, I’m still trying to learn and practice the word, “selfless.” It’s been a wonderful journey of learning, full of tears, tantrums (yes, in my own adult way), and I’ve waged many battles of the mind, but through Christ have won them and am still standing. God has changed me simply because I asked him to help me change! I’ve been thinking about 2015 a lot, because I just have this stirring feeling, that something is going to happen halfway through 2015. I don’t know what, but it’s something new, something I haven’t done before. I’m so curious to see what God is up to. I feel like God may be preparing my heart for the unknown, because my 2015 word has been hot on my mind lately, and I’m praying about it often…and 2015 isn’t even close to here yet. I’m taking the following list to the Lord and praying about each specifically for lots of reasons, and continuing on the “selfless” journey in the meantime. I know I’ll eventually land on a word, or none of them and choose something completely different. Hey, God will surprise you like that sometimes! I hope you consider joining in next year with just ONE word. Not multiple new year resolutions, but just one word, that everything is centered around, to keep your focus up, toward God, and to grow in ways you may not expect. Here are some 2015 words on my list so far:

  • Yield
  • Slow
  • Persist
  • Calm
  • Write
  • Give
  • Simplify
  • Discipline
  • Family

Loving life. Join me.
